Susan M. Drake is a professor in the Graduate and Undergraduate Department of Brock University, St. Catharines, ON. She earned a PhD in curriculum from the University of Toronto. She has taught at all levels of education. She taught physical education and Health and English for 18 years at the high school level. She worked on school improvement teams at the elementary level and spent one year as an elementary teacher.

David Scheidecker had been a high school English teacher for 27 years, with 20 of them as the head of an English department. His professional activities included serving as a reader for the Advanced Placement English literature and Composition exam, acting as a consultant to the college board, curriculum design, and miscellaneous instructional concerns. Scheidecker had worked extensively in curriculum design and revision at his own high school.

William Freeman was a middle school social studies teacher for 11 years and a high school principal for 22 years. During his tenure as principal, he taught classes in philosophy to high school students and instructed as an adjunct professor in the educational, administrative, and business master’s degree programs for Aurora University and Olivet Nazarene University.

Susan Sullivan is currently Chair of the Department of Education at the College of Staten Island (CSI), City University of New York (CUNY) where all undergraduate and graduate education programs are under the direction of the Chair. Previously, she was the Chair of the Education Department for six years. She continues to teach post master’s courses in supervision of instruction and educational leadership in the Department leadership program.

Douglas A. Parker holds dual Masters degrees in Education and Counseling. He is a lifelong educator, veteran teacher, coach, and school administrator. Debate and Speech teams that have used his lessons and techniques for public speaking have won numerous local, state, national, and international titles. His strategies are sensible, psychologically valid, easy to use, and can be an essential resource for teachers and principals in schools and in all professional settings.

Peter W. Hewson is Professor of Science Education at the University of Wisconsin–Madison. He is also the director of a project to develop collabo­rative research in science and mathematics education between South Africa and the United States. He has been a principal investigator on several other federally funded multiyear projects in science education.

Sandra Lee Gupton, EdD, is Professor of Educational Leadership at the University of North Florida in Jacksonville, Florida, where she has been serving for the past six years as Chairperson of the Department of Curriculum and Instruction. Before coming to UNF, she was Professor of Educational Leadership at the University of Southern Mississippi for eleven years.
