David Smokler currently teaches English in Needham, Massachusetts. Jobs for English teachers were nonexistent, so unable to get a traditional teaching gig, Smokler accepted a job teaching juvenile offenders on a horse-drawn, cross-country, covered wagon train. He planned lessons and taught literature and writing to more than fifty incarcerated students while traveling twenty to twenty-five miles a day on horse- and mule-drawn wagons from Pennsylvania to southwestern Texas.

In 2008, Louise A. Chickie-Wolfe retired from classroom teaching after 35 years of experience. She taught general education, gifted children, and students with serious learning and behavioral problems. Her experience covers elementary, middle school, high school, and college levels. He has been conducting workshops for Discipline Associations and for The Teacher Learning Center for the past two decades. He created and teaches the Brain Research in Education certification program at Oakland University in Rochester, Michigan. The video he created about the program won two Telly Awards in 2005.

Laurie Materna is a professor of nursing at Milwaukee Area Technical College. Materna’s interest in brain research includes the relationship between nutrition and learning, the use of graphic organizers to promote learning, and the development of learning styles and multiple intelligences in adult learners.

Raleigh Philp has taught at every level of public and private school from grade school through graduate school. Currently, he is a consultant for the California State Department of Education’s health related programs, and an adjunct professor at Pepperdine University, teaching science and health methods courses in the graduate school of education.

Michael A. Scaddan is an international educational consultant who works in the USA, Australasia, Asia, and Europe. He is the author of 40 Engaging Brain-Based Tools for the Classroom as well as 24 training manuals and 3 educational DVDs. He has a background in elementary and adult teaching as well as being a highly successful principal and was recently selected as patron for The Hungarian Brain Based Institute.

Barry Corbin, M.Ed., is an educational consultant and part-time lecturer in the School of Education, Acadia University, Nova Scotia, Canada. He is recently retired from the Annapolis Valley Regional School Board, where he served for over 30 years as teacher, school administrator, curriculum and program consultant and staff developer. Barry has also served as consultant and advisor to several Department of Education initiatives for the province of Nova Scotia, Canada.
