After 8 years as a classroom teacher, Rachel Bear spent two years as co-director of the Idaho Core Coaches for the Idaho State Department of Education, supporting teachers in implementing the Next Generation Standards. She currently is a Senior Program Associate for the National Writing Project (NWP).

Christopher Butts has worked in education since 2003. He spent the first ten years at the elementary level as a paraprofessional with English Learners and a classroom teacher for third and fourth graders. During that his grade level team created a community garden. He also taught at a migrant summer school and English classes for parents in the evenings.

Mindi Teich, MEd, is a Multilingual Learning Coach with SupportEd. Ms. Teich has been an advocate for Multilingual Learners and their teachers for over 20 years. She began her career as an ELD teacher in DC Public Schools (DCPS), where she worked with students in pull out, push in, and co-teaching environments. While still teaching, she worked with District staff to develop and implement training on collaborative practices for classroom and ELD teachers.

Robin Avelar La Salle grew up in Echo Park, near downtown Los Angeles. Avelar La Salle holds a Ph.D. in Education from Stanford University with emphasis on Language, Literacy and Culture. She taught elementary, middle, high school and university students in Southern and Northern California. Avelar La Salle spent years as the Administrator for Curriculum, Staff Development and Assessment at a school district outside of Los Angeles.
