Beverly J. Irby, Ed.D. is Associate Professor of Educational Leadership in the Department of Educational Leadership and Counseling at Sam Houston State University. She has also served as Director of Field Experiences, Supervisor of Mentor Services, Liaison for Sam Houston State University’s Urban Professional Development Site, and as a Title VII Grants Coordinator at an urban elementary school.
Karen Clark Salinas is a senior research assistant at the Center on School, Family, and Community Partnerships at Johns Hopkins University. As communications director of the National Network of Partnership Schools, she is editor of Type 2, the Network’s newsletter, and coeditor of the annual collection Promising Partnership Practices. She also coordinates workshops and provides technical assistance to members by phone, email, and Web site.
Mavis G. Sanders is assistant professor of education in the School of Professional Studies in Business and Education, research scientist at the Center for Research on the Education of Students Placed at Risk (CRESPAR), and senior advisor to the National Network of Partnership Schools at Johns Hopkins University.
Marilyn E. Gootman is founder of Gootman Education Associates, an educational consulting company that provides workshops and seminars for parents and educators, focusing on successful strategies for raising and teaching children. She has been in the teaching profession for over 25 years, and her teaching experiences range from elementary school to the university level. She holds degrees from Simmons College and Brandeis University and a doctorate from the University of Georgia.
Edward F. DeRoche received a BS degree from the University of Maine, an MEd degree from Easter Connecticut State University, and an MA and PhD from the University of Connecticut. He is currently Professor in the School of Education and Codirector of the International Center for Character Education at the University of San Diego.
Olatokunbo (Toks) S. Fashola is a senior research fellow with Optimal Solutions Group and an adjunct research scientist and faculty associate at Johns Hopkins University. She has served as principal investigator, evaluator, and advisor for several programs and program evaluations across the country.
Carrol Moran has worked in education for over 30 years. For the past 12 years, she has served as executive director of the Monterey Bay Educational Consortium and the UC Santa Cruz Educational Partnership Center. Her teaching experience encompasses preschool to graduate school, focusing on low-income students of diverse language backgrounds. She was a writer for Macmillan McGraw Hill on materials for English Learners.
