L. David Weller, Jr. is a professor in the Department of Educational Leadership at the University of Georgia. He has been a high school teacher, a middle school principal, and department head of middle school education at the University of Georgia. Weller serves a consultant to public and private schools and universities in the areas of organizational development and Total Quality management, and has served as a visiting lecturer at several British universities.

Dolores M. Huffman, RN, PhD, has been a nursing educator for over thirty years. In her academic career she has taught classroom health issues for elementary teachers. In addition, she has been employed as a community health nurse. In that capacity, she has worked with families of school-age children living with disability and has previously served as a camp nurse for special needs children. Her interest covers the health needs of persons across the lifespan.

Karen Lee Fontaine, R.N., M.S.N., is Professor of Nursing at Purdue University Calumet, where she has been teaching for 20 years. She is also a certified sex therapist and maintains a private practice coun­seling individuals and couples. Her publishing awards include the American Journal of Nursing Book of the Year Award (2000) for Healing Practices: Alternative Therapies for Nursing and the Annual Nursing Book Review Sigma Theta Tau (2000) for Mental Health Nursing (4th edition).

Richard W. Strong was vice president of Silver Strong & Associates and Thoughtful Education Press. A former teacher on the elementary and secondary levels, he served as a trainer/consultant to hundreds of school districts, teacher and professional organizations, and state departments of education.

Harvey F. Silver, president of Silver Strong & Associates and Thoughtful Education Press, was named one of the 100 most influential teachers in the country. He has conducted numerous workshops for school districts and state education departments throughout the United States. He was the principal consultant for the Georgia Critical Thinking Skills Program and the Kentucky Thoughtful Education Teacher Leadership Program.

Matthew J. Perini, director of publishing at Silver Strong & Associates, has authored curriculum guides, articles, and research studies on a wide range of topics, including learning styles, multiple intelligences, and effective teaching practices.

Gregory J. Cizek is Professor of Educational Measurement at the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill. His background in the field of educa­tional assessment includes five years as a manager of licensure and certification testing programs for American College Testing (ACT) in Iowa City, Iowa, and 15 years of teaching experience at the col­lege level, where his teaching assignments have consisted primarily of graduate courses in educational testing, research methods, and statistics.

Roger T. Johnson is a professor of curriculum and instruction at the University of Minnesota. He holds his doctoral degree from the University of California in Berkeley. He is the Co-Director of the Cooperative Learning Center. His public school teaching experience includes kindergarten through eighth grade instruction in self-contained classrooms, open schools, nongraded situations, cottage schools, and departmentalized (science) schools. He has consulted with schools throughout the world.
