In her position as Director of the William and Mary School Leadership Institute, Jan Rozzelle Nikas directs multiple school reform partnerships with Virginia public school dis-tricts. One partnership with five rural school districts has focused on improving leading and learning in 15 schools for the past 4 years, particularly in the area of literacy.
In Jesness' twenty-five year career as an educator, he has worked with English learners in a number of environments. He has taught ESL in public middle and high schools, special education for bilingual children at the elementary level, and language arts and social studies in classes that included both English learners and regular education students. Jesness has also taught students privately, ranging from preschoolers to top executives of multinational corporations.
Barbara Reider has been a dedicated educator for over 30 years, gaining a multitude of experience in classroom management and continually striving to capture the many motivations that drive behavior.
Dr. Bonnie S. Billingsley is faculty member in the Department of Teaching and Learning at Virginia Tech. She has taught a range of courses over the last fifteen years in the areas of learning disabilities, emotional disorders, and the administration and supervision of special education. Dr. Billingsley began her career in special education teaching students with disabilities in both Tallahassee and St. Augustine, Florida.
Vicki Husby is a curriculum specialist and instructional coach with Walton County Schools in Georgia. She is a former daycare teacher, public school teacher, assistant principal and assistant professor of "Supervision of Instruction" at the University of Georgia. She received her Ed.D. at the University of Georgia in educational leadership after studying teachers’ experiences with self-directed staff development.
