She has written four books and more than 100 articles on programs related to adolescent behav­ior, prevention programs, school-based health clinics, and full-service commu­nity schools. In addition, Joy has served on the National Academy of Science’s panels on teen pregnancy, high-risk youth, and comprehensive school health.

SueMaguire, North Bennington, Vermont, has been an educator since 1977, a teacher for 15 years, and an administrator for 10 years. She is currently the principal at Molly Stark School in Bennington, Vermont, and is an adjunct instructor in graduate administration courses at Massachusetts College of Lib­eral Arts in North Adams. She lives with her husband, Greg, and their two chil­dren, Chris and Kara.

Richard Banyon is presently consulting in the Carle Place, New York school district as assistant superintendent for curriculum, instruction and personnel. His educational career spans over thirty-five years as a classroom teacher, guidance counselor, dean, building administrator, and central office administrator in New York City and Long Island.

Francine Banyon has thirty-five years of experience as an educator in New York City schools, the Huntington school district, and the Smithtown Central school district on Long Island. With Richin, Banyon, and Stein, Ms. Banyon is co-founder if the Connecting Character to Conduct© consulting team and co-author of the book of the same title.

Edward (Ted) Britton is associate director of the National Center for Improving Science Education (NCISE), housed within the Mathematics, Science, and Technology program of WestEd. Dr. Britton brings long experience in research and evaluation of curriculum issues and materials to this book. In collaboration with Senta Raizen and others, he developed methods for a cross-national comparison of textbooks in the Third International Mathematics and Science Study (TIMSS).
